Individuals/Families/Medicare Questions?

  • I/we can't afford to pay our insurance premiums?
  • There are a few ways that you can lower your insurance premiums and we can help decide what works best for you. One way is to lower premiums is to create a healthy lifestyle – mainly eating healthy, not smoking and not drinking. Another option if you do not have monthly medications is to look into a policy that allows prescription deductibles which will lower your overall premium. You could also choose a policy with a higher deductible which will increase out of pocket expenses, but will lower monthly premiums.

  • What do all these terms mean...HSA, PPO, HMO, IND, EPO?
    • HSA- An HSA stands for Health Savings Account, and enables you to save money (tax-free) for most health care expenses. You can open an HSA after enrolling in a high-deductible health plan.
    • PPO- A PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organization and offers a network of "preferred" medical providers for you to choose from. You will only be responsible for an annual deductible and a copayment for your visit.
    • HMO- A HMO or Health Maintenance Organization requires you to receive most of your medical care from a network provider and require that you select a primary care physician to serve as your personal doctor. If you require care from a specialist in the network you will need a referral.
    • IND - Insured Network Deposits: the cash from the IND and the INDB is deposited in multiple network banks, each up to the FDIC insurance limit; a client's total deposits are eligible for up to an aggregate of $5 million, or $10 million per joint account, of FDIC insurance.
    • EPO - An EPO insurance plan is comparable to a smaller PPO, where you have a limited network of medical care providers who offer large discounts on rates.
